The hip new menswear lifestyle shop recently took up residence in East London’s Shoreditch, set slightly off the beaten track on Calvert Street. After working at menswear label, Nigel Hall, owner Tom O’Dell set up shop last June to provide clothes, accessories and homewares for the man about town. With an interior of earthy, natural tones and muted colours, the shop reflects Tom’s own personal style, which is relaxed, classic and stylish. You’ll find everything here for the discerning man, such as Northampton-made leather brogues, British-made workman shirts, notepads, scissors, candles and even artisan rugs made in Pimlico.
Another East London gem, Labour and Wait is hard to miss as you walk down Redchurch Street. Housed in a beautiful emerald green tiled building on a corner, the store opened in 2000, just before Shoreditch began to buzz with commercial activity and hype. The owners pride themselves on stocking simple, but well-designed products that are practical and made to be used. Here you’ll find useful household goods for the kitchen and bathroom, such as buckets, brushes, scissors and soap, next to enamel and vintage tableware, garden tools and rugs.
